Save on Artisan Bread, Make your Own Easy
We love the Artisan Bread at Safeway except that it’s $3.60 a loaf!! I found a great recipe with beautiful instructions at An Oregon Cottage here. The bread was excellent and had that great Artisan crust. It only has 4 ingredients, yeast, whole wheat flour, white flour, and salt that you can keep on hand so that you can make it anytime. It also makes more than one loaf so you’ll have at least another loaf to bake for up to 14 days after you make up the dough. We love that it becomes more of a sourdough bread the longer you keep the dough. It includes whole wheat flour which makes me feel better than just 100% white flour kind that you get at the store. And it’s cheap, at 65 cents for 2-4 loaves!!
